Well, the Dyna was not really free, but at $500 for the set, that is the only way to look at it!. Imagine my joy when the kid opened the trunk and showed me what he advertised on CL. Excited

Dayton 20-12-12-16-Dynasonic Top Hat model with uncracked or blemished Blue Onyx wrap. Minimal cleaned needed. Had to reglue the wrap on the bass rims with a 6" piece missing. On the back bottom rim so no one knows. Couple of tension rods needed.

Gonna move to front of the gig sets for a while for sure. D' Drummer

NOTE - You do not see a crack in the wrap on the full size picture of the bass drum. That is the reflection from the tom rim reflecting in the wrap! I mean this set is C L E A N. flowers2

That was a steal. Beautiful kit. Hope they aren't really stolen. CL trunk sale.

I think "steal" is the right word. Seller obviously had no idea he could easily get $1500 for the wood Dyna alone. Good thing you didn't let him know.

I have mixed feelings when this happens to me. If the seller lives in poverty, then I would feel guilty. At times I have changed gears and revealed the value of an item when I am right there buying it. They are shocked and thankful for the information. I once almost bought a pair of Zildjian 50s HHs but the seller knew he had to do the research first - but his research thus far was clueless and he had no idea what they worth or had such high value. Surely he would have gotten it wrong if not for me to teach him. The guy was hurting financially like myself and thus we both walked away feeling good. I did indeed buy some other Luddys from him and have since made my money back with drums left over.

Sometimes I do bring a haul home and I consider those times pure blessings of providence. I hope to pay it forward someday - difference being it will be out of knowledge and not out of ignorance.

BTW - Nice score!

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!
