I just got myself a nice blue/olive Acrolite. I was wondering how to tell when it was made... I'm sure it was 70's; still has the original 12-strand snare wires. But I can't find a serial or date stamp on it anywhere. Was this common with the alloy shells?

If it has the B/O badge with sharp corners, then it may well have been made in 70.Some badges weren't stamped with serial numbers, and not all interiors had date stamps.

Is the B/O badge blank? There are reports of B/O badges without serial numbers in the 1970-71 time frame. Sometimes the badges were trimmed to fit on shells with the vent hole drilled lower (possibly leftover Keystone badge shells) and at other times, the serial number was simply not stamped onto the badge. Other possible explanations exist.
A few pictures would be very helpful.

Hey there tub -
I just posted an acro I bought last week w/ the same blank badge {see "10 Lug Acrolite rarity" in the forum}. As for the date stamp missing internally, the ink easily rubs off. I wouldn't worry that it's not there - Chris

Interestingly enough, based on that number, it doesn't jive with any of the numbering conventions I've looked up. Which means it's either a very early one, or an (?) 80's model?

Don't respond - that was a cheap way out..:). Google is my friend. So I guess I can have something from between 84 to 93 technically...
I'm kinda bummed; I should have researched it a little better ahead of time so I got something a little more era-specific... But I like the way it sounds and that I guess is really what counts.
