Cheapo Bongos Help Last viewed: 18 hours ago

Loading...

I was given some bongos today that have no logo on them or anything. The only thing on it is a "Mad in Japan" stamp on one of the rims. They're painted white with a cheap thin WMP wrap on them and the insides are painted red. If anyone has any info on these please let me know. And where would I find heads for them? The rims are 7 1/4" and 8 1/2". Thanks.

Ernie the generic Asian firewood bongos were brought into the US in the 60's by the boatloads---literally. There were hundreds of thousands of them under hundreds of different brand names. The heads are not any standard bongo drum size available in our music stores.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Thanks for the info. I figured they were just knock-around drums(since they're made out of plywood). However, I found some Remo and Evans bongo heads on Amazon that are 7 1/4" and 8 1/2". Are you saying these wouldn't fit these drums even though they line up size-wise?

Now, thoe head just might work. I was never able to find heads that fit the set of Gold Sparkles that I got several years ago.
