Came across this unusual angle of Charlie's kit from December. Is that a DW snare?

Yep. Seems like Charlie plays what seems best to his ear. Good for him. According to the book, "Star Sets", in 1994, Charlie was using a 70's Ludwig Supra-phonic 400 snare.Charlie Watts is one of my favourite drummers. Whatever he plays is good enough for me!

Just a drummer who loves all things about vintage drums! Nothing more, nothing less.

Just as interesting are his cymbal choices. A mixed bag of chinas, a swish and a flat ride. Very unique.

He is a friend of a friend, John DeChristopher. Just retired from Zildjian. Must suck for him that Charlie is not necessarily a Z player, but I think he uses Z-sticks...

Retired?!?!?!

Holy crap!! Good for him!!!!

Bowing

He wouldn't know me from a hole in the wall....but man, what a super nice guy.

He's the guy who introduced me and a couple other Wurlitzer employees to Elvin Jones.

I still feel like I am in his debt.

It's not the drumkit that is important here. It's the PERSIAN CARPET that is underneath them! Don't you people notice anything? DOH
