I have the bottom of an old flat base cymbal stand with snap legs. I acquired it about 50 years ago, and I just don't remember what brand it is. And somehow the top part got separated and I don't know where it is. It's a nice stand and fast and easy to set up. I've used a Ludwig basket snare stand with it, and sometimes a cymbal stand upper part. I've attached several views of it. If someone recognizes it, please let me know. Thanks in advance. Don O. Can anyone identify this cymbal stand bottom? Last viewed: 1 day ago
Iam just guessing but to me it looks to be a 60's M.I.J. stand.I seem to recall years ago seeing one like it....Mikey
Never seen one like it, but looks like a cool design and in pretty good condition.
Mikey, back in the 60's when I got that stand, I was managing a drum shop in Salt Lake City and, of course, getting all my stuff wholesale. So I could be pretty choosey and get anything I wanted, and I didn't even look at Japanese stuff in those days :-) But that was then, and now is now, and Japanese drums are among the best. But my vote is that it was American made, or it would have a 'made in Japan' stamp on it. However, I always trust your judgement, Mikey, so I could be convinced otherwise. I wonder if anyone else has seen anything like it.
It very much reminds me of 60s Amati stands, but they had different rubber on the legs. Could you post a photo of the stands' other end?

I found some Amati stands on-line, and they are not the same, they are similar to a Trixon stand I once had. The stand I have has slots so that the sculptured rubber feet are aligned and don't rotate. I'm almost positive my stand is American made.
Oh, you're right!
Well, then I don't know.

No. I remember using it as a cymbal stand, but the top half is gone. It seems to fit many vintage size accessories. I thought at one time that it was Ludwig, but my memory just isn't clear for that far back.
Definitely NOT Ludwig. Similar to a Premier but definitely NOT Premier either. Closest I can come up with on this one is early 60's Sonor, but with different rubber feet.
Here are two pics from a 1962 Sonor UK catalog, the second one I cropped and increased the size of a bit.
And a third from the 1963 German Sonor catalog.....the design is similar and they've gone to plastic parts, but sure looks close.
