This was such a strange size, I had to buy it.

12 deep by 10 diameter.

Wrap came off easily. Just pulled it off. No tearing or roving grabbing.

Under the brown glue, it was very smooth, no voids to fill with glass.

Sanded real smooth. Some brown discoloration in the glass.

Had to leave it in.

Squared it. Trued it. New bearing edges.

Tried it out. Sounds OK. Needs new heads.

Thinking EC2 batter and clear ambassador reso.

Any suggestions for heads welcome.

Got it at 10 AM. Finished it at 9 PM. 1 day.

That is a first for me.

Usually takes a day just to strip it.

If it does not tune up, I can cut it in half or use it as a trash can.LoLoLoLo

That is definitely an odd size. It sure is nice when the wrap comes right off with no hassle. I take it you won the other auction too? ;)

Other auction? There's more?????

As usual, great job on that shell! What do you use to get the glue off the fiberglass?

On this one I wet sanded with soap and water with a random orbit sander using 80 grit.

This particular adhesive came off easily. It was real dry.

Sometimes it is real gummy and you have to use solvents (Paint Thinner, Lacquer Thinner, Acetone) and a scraper first.

I have wet sanded with paint thinner also.

The wet thing is cool cause you don't get fiberglass dust flying all over the place.

Water/Thinner and fiberglass dust makes kind of a paste and starts a polishing kind of thing.

Then you rinse the shells off with a hose.

Can't do that on most drum shells.

I swear, I don't know how you guys sand fiberglass without wearing a Hazmat suit! Fiberglass is the worst. Get it in your cloths and you'll be scratching like a hound in no time.

The drum looks great! Now you have to figure out how to incorporate it into a kit set-up!

Once again a fantastic end result. That is one strange drum size. A custom ordered size I suppose?

I have found the best thing for fiberglass dust containment is wet sanding.

I have done my share of dry sanding.

With a mask.

You are right, dust in your clothes etc. Bad.

Sometimes, you have to dry sand.

The soap and water spray bottle is my go to when sanding.

No dust in the air. Just a paste build up of resin, roving and water and glue.

Dust contained in paste.

Scott - You say it makes its own 'polishing rouge' as it accumulates! How cool is that? That's the same reason I use gel-strippers to remove paint from old drums, it traps -everything- in the goop. No dust, or lead in the air, I just have to be real careful about how I dispose of the residue. Toxic stuff some of it. Just be careful and take all the safety precautions the job requires. You don't want to be breathing -any of that stuff- into your lungs, I'm glad to hear you use masks.
