Wow! Lots of nice solutions that won't mark up the front BD hoop; I used to use a clamp-style foot that goes on the front BD hoop, but gave that up - they work, but are the worst thing for your wood hoop. That said, with an ample-pile carpet, the spindly OE spurs on my '75 Gretsch BD, with the spread, rubber-foot adapter removed, provide awesome stopping-power. Super sharp, for those instances when theStage Band2 club-owner forgets where his cash is (kidding.....maybe). Always bring some carpet; a remnant, a welcome mat, a practice putting green, something. Chasing a base drum is ludacris!! I learned early on that gyms, park band shells, your friends patio and lots of sketchy bars don't have carpet, let alone a stage. Always be prepared.
