At first i tought this might be a new way to go, After pondering it for a while now i'm thinking bad bad bad. If the member still would like to take it to vote i say let everyone have a say it is our site that we all or should donate to.

I just thought it could be a way to generate funds for the site. It could be a paid membership section & each sale would be subject to a small posting fee. You could even assign bidding numbers so people didn't actually know who they were bidding against. But in the end I think everyone would figure it out. I know that my bidding habits would pi$$ people off...I'm what's called a sniper. I know people get mad at me, but I do it to protect me from myself. I bid in the last few seconds of auctions to make sure my comptetative nature doesn't clean out my bank account...but I know it pi$$es people off. I guess what I'm saying is that this is a bad idea...for this site...not for a sister site. What would be the drawback to a sister auction site? I think most of this talk has been generated by the greedy ba$tards at eBay who drain the pockets of their customers...it would be nice to have another alternative. Not sure how many of you know this, but eBay also owns a big chunk of Craig's List...classic example of the rich getting richer on the backs of the poor.

This is addressed to those who are passionate about this auction site thingy.

There already is an alternative to eBay. It was announced here with the usual **** and vinegar discussion amidst the brew ha ha of bad business plans and egos.

It's up and running if you would like to frequent it and play the game. It's owned and run by some guy who owns and runs the DFO. Knock yourself out and enjoy.

I would have to vote no, mostly for reasons already discussed. Just thought I'd at least put my two cents and vote flowers2

From Tommyp

SIGH. No... a vote won't decide. Please reference post #20: David will decide. He ultimately has the final say... period. That said though, it certainly looks like there are more NAYS then YAYS! :-)Tommyp

That is so right... and, after thinking about this...

Nope, not a good thing at all... I'd vote no.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

That's OK Jag, apparently so do I...it's why I very seldom voice my opinions on this site. Less said the better!

As soon as I read this I thought great idea. . . . . NOT HERE. Let's remember what kind of crap happened on DFO. Let eBay be eBay for public negotiations with the potential for private dealings and let for sale be here for private negotiations. If a price is not reached here. .. Go to where its applicable. I'm in with the latter posts. . . . I'm out with a NO vote

And as for some of you feeling like you opened a can of worms or were shut down. . . NOT AT ALL you created a healthy post on a forum that people care about. Your initial intent was to maybe improve the site. I can never fault anyone for that attempt. Thank You for the suggestion and the fore thought about this forum to possibly upgrade it.. Not all inventions were successful 1st time out. Success is built upon learning from small failures. You don't have a big mouth you have an equal voice in a vintage drum community. . . . .
