Are Kent's vintage? Last viewed: 15 minutes ago

Hate to beat a dead horse but I think this pony still has some life left in it. I guess I've been struggling to define vintage since I joined this forum in '09. with that said, by some definitions my '66 Kents are vintage and by others they are not. Actually I'm confused. Looking for opinions.

1958 Gretsch Kit
1966 Kent Kit
1969 Ludwig Standard Kit
1970 Rogers Power Tone Kit
1970's Ludwig Vistalite Kit
1994 Yamaha Maple Custom
2010 Yamaha Maple Custom
28 assorted snares (including some real crap)
and 1 really nice K Zildjian Istanbul

1966 Kent drums, company is non existant, they have to be considered vintage, who would argue that? I am going to be posting pictures of my Kents very soon, how did you determine the year on yours?

Thank you!

American Kents were from the 1950's-60's. By 1970, they were imported from Japan.

I'll post some pic's too. Mine were actually stamped, with a rubber date stamp on the inside of the shell.

I guess I am assuming that is authentic. And I feel certain that mine were made by the Kent brothers at the factory on Military Road, in Kenmore NY.

If they have date stamps, my guess is that it will say "1967" along with a month. "1966" is my second guess....:-)

Ya, I would like to see them. I am wondering what my bass drum spurs should look like. Mine have the white foil badge and if I remember correct that puts them in the 1950's to very early 60's. I am going to ask my buddy to make me a t- rod for the bass drum.

Are you the one that lives near Bill Kent? Is he still around? That was an interesting story you posted in ny Kent thread last week.

Here is a pic of my bass drum, it shows spurs on the drum but I cant find them. Are they just a straight 3/8" chrome rod with a rubber tip?

Yes and Yes, I haven't contacted Bill Kent in quite a while. I know his brother Ed passed not all that long ago. Your description of the spurs is correct. I will post my pics. I need to take some new ones. Seem to have lost the file.
