I just picked up a 1970s BIG BEAT kit in 'smoke' Vistalite. The original hoops have white cortex inlays. Was this the common inlay color for these drums? They just look funny.

Not an expert, but yes white is the original and predominant color inlay i see on the smoke kits. Here's mine

My 1976 Black Vista set has white cortex inlay.
My 1974 Amber Vista set has gold silk.
Early Vista's had silk inlays and switched to sparkles and solids as far as I have read.

Catalogs on the drum archive site look like solid white inlay... But the pictures are not a great angle.
Not a Guru... just interested..
