Antique store find....Vistalites Last viewed: 2 days ago

While searching for an army cot this weekend for some camping with the kids at a local "antique"/used furniture/thrift shop I spotted a drum set under a dining room table in a far corner of the store...what did it wind up being...a nice 4-piece '70's clear Vistalite set...12", 16", 20" & a neat Pork Pie Little Squealer snare...

This place is literally 3 blocks from my house& I go there all the time...they never have any instruments - I asked the price: $425 tax included...and it came with a yamaha hi-hat, 3 good cymbal stands (1 Pearl, 2 Ludwig), a sonar bass pedal & a tama snare stand....and a set of Sabian B8 hats just for good measure

They look like they have the original heads (or close to it) "Long Island Drum Shop" labeled reso heads & pinstripes on top...They actually sounded decent without even a tune...can't wait to clean them up & get some new heads

Not a single crack.....flawless seams, barely any scratches...just dusty :)

And to top it off, my birthday is tomorrow...Happy B-day to me :)

Here's a couple half-a$$ pics....I'll get a couple better tomorrow - I had a gig this w/e and I have so much equipt. piled in front I could barely get a decent pic.

very nice find. I'm always talking my wife into hitting up antique stores now. The only thing I've found so far is a Slingerland marching snare shell.

Again, that's a very sweet find to make your birthday even better.

I keep telling my wife this is why I stop at the thrift/antique stores because "you never know". Her response is, "yes, but you don't need it". Ah.

Lets face it, it's hard to sneak in a drum kit...

Kits:
1966 Ludwig Hollywood Gold Sparkle Pearl 12/13/16/22
Star 3pc in Red Glass Glitter (1960's)
Snares:
1959 Ludwig Pioneer Mahogany
60's Ludwig Pioneer Gold Sparkle
60's Ludwig Acrolite (Keystone)
Ludwig/Custom 6.5x14
1960's Bolero (MIJ)

You, sir are in the running for buy of the week!!! Now, you can look for a 13"

tom to make the set complete. Let's see some pics after they're cleaned up.

Thanks for showing them to us.

My wife says the same thing but I just say it's an investment in the future or that I'm saving it from some kid destroying it.
