This thread is hilarious! Made me laugh out loud over my lunch at work. For guys like us who really love drums that much, I guess we're friggin nuts......other than here, I wouldn't share this info with the average guy on the street. Thanks for making me smile today. You guys are the best! dean

From funkypoodle

I couldn't really tell the difference between the smell of the flat grey 5 plies and the white speckled grey of the 9/72s :)

Then you sir, are no true connoisseur of the olfactory subtleties between the Clevelands and the Fullertons. The Clevelands have a bold vinyl acetate/ethylene overtone followed by a hint of sweet maple, while the Fullertons strike you first with palpable scent of nitrocellulose followed by a distinct finish of bitter poplar and an inexplicable trace of peach. It's best to let the open drum breath at room temperature for 30 minutes to fully appreciate its true essence.

Yah, maybe we are just a little nuts here. :p

I love the smell of drums. I love when I get to take older sets apart that may have heads on for years. Crazy, yea I'd say so. But we love drums, and this is just another part of the love.
