On its own, my 400 isn't my favorite drum. I don't have the Morello chops to make it purr in an acoustic gig. But it fits in great when the band is plugged in; then it makes its bones as a good ensemble instrument.

the real problem is the sense of comaradery cult that is built around a certain drum. the world is full silly stuff like that. the drum that works for the application is the one that actually rocks, not the reputation. Ludwig is well overdue for a reduction in acclaim but it will take a group of individuals that think, not idolize , to move on.
