A stupid question?

Hi Everyone!

Is there anyone that can tell me the type of material is used for the Bass drum muffler that we see as a white strip running down the front? Is it just a piece of cloth that is found in a Drum Store?Help2

I 'felt' it was time to chime in...

Any sewing notions shop or chain will have it. If you ask nicely, the clerks will hack it up for us silly men that can't cut a straight line with scissors. Well, me anyway...

I've tried about sixty seven thousand different things for bass muffles and 'felt' felt is superior to anything tried.

And it just 'feels' better... okay, off my soap box... maybe.

Well, You DO have Mal-Mart, and they sell the same felt we feel is the best feeling felt for feeling felt and for feeling that felt we need to feel....

Good question. Now, how do you guys that have done this reattach it to the drum? I figured getting it long enough to double over and shooting a staple from the staple gun would get it but figured it couldn't hurt to ask either. I have to do the same thing. Mine is busted and hanging there. Just a bit too short to reattach the original felt.

Move it a little closer to the edge. In order to reattach it, you put it under the edge of one side of the head, stretch it across, then after the head is in place and the hoop is on, you simply start tightening it by pulling it...tighter across the inside of the head. It is a little bit of a pain, but it is worth it to keep pillows and newspaper and blankets were they belong...on the couch.
