a couple of ludwig oddities to share... Last viewed: 1 day ago

yesterday i received a neat 8 lug b/o badge supra that i got from forum member at dfo. it only needed a few parts to complete it. got it apart, detailed and back together for a quick photo. it has its share of the ludwig freckles, but the drum is in really nice condition overall. figured i better get this one while i had the chance. haven't seen many of the 8 lug models.

a few months ago, i found a beautiful 10 lug keystone badge acrolite on ebay. this came from the studio of the ludwig dealer that sold the drum new as a special order and then got it back years later.

so basically, these are a pair that have backwards lug configurations from what you normally find for each drum. they both sound great.

ive got one more odd one on the way. when it arrives, i'll post it and maybe 3 more not so common acros as well.

hope you like them..

Very, Very cool! I wish I could see those in person. It's the kind of thing that makes you do a double take. Enjoy them.

thanks for the kind words everybody...

nevin-the on the way snare is actually a newer snare. not brand new,but just newer. its just an acro that you don't see often. it also has the old "only so many were made" story attached to it..lol. it kind of along the lines of the other two i showed.

now the other three are vintage acrolites, also oddities. still not a vintage 6.5 in the mix though. i do have one of the new reissues in that size though.

Those two drums could be in the dictionary next to the word "oxymoron". Great looking snares and definitely contradict the norm. Can't wait to see what your 3rd oddity is.
