70's Ludwig Stainless Steel, how rare is this kit?

Loading...

I have a fairly rare 70's steel kit. The rarity is because of the kick, which is a Ludwig factory virgin 14x28 kick. I have not been able to find any reference to another one on the internet or even find someone who has heard of one. So to help me understand how many other 14x28 kicks exist, has anyone heard of one?

I am not looking for marching drums converted to kick drums, but actual factory 14x28 kick drums hopefully with the mates it left the factory with. The drum shell is what determines what it is, not the lugs & rods.

My kit configuration:

14x28 kick

12x15 tom

16x16 fl tom

16x18 fl tom

Thanks

Scott

I sold one on ebay about 5 years ago but it had mach lugs and it was most certainly a marcher. I have never seen a drum set 14x28" very cool indeed. That bass drum has got to be about to knock satellites out of space. My 14x24 and 14x26" are insane sounding.

With that bass drum I am surprised it doesn't have 18 and 20 inch floor toms...;)

That is a sick kit you got there..

I love it! Pretty safe bet that it was originally bought/ordered by a Bonham fan.

Believe it or else!

Hi Mike T

Here is a pic of the spur mount holes, they are factory. No extra holes or filled holes. The air vent hole/badge is offset forward just like all kick drums. ALL marchers bass drum air vent/badge in the center of the shell. Also my kick drum is consecutive serial numbers with the 12x15 tom, and the 16 fl tom is 26 digits away from them, the 18 fl tom thousands away. This drum set is the real thing.

Yep that is the real deal. does it have a metal support inside the bass drum probably not since it doesn't have a tom mount on the bass drum.

No metal supports, but there are the normal metal plates on the inside for the spur mount screws/cones.
