'67 Ludwig Hollywood serials vs date stamps Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Hey guys...thought this was interesting as have never had one this far off before. Picked up a one owner '67 Hollywood, and when I first looked at the kit, I noticed that the serials were far off...was still a great deal, so picked em up. I took the heads off of the toms (not the bass yet) and this is what I found:

12x8 stamped May 11, 1967 #438xxx

16x16 stamped May 22, 1967 #506xxx

Typically in my years of collecting/selling, this is an oddity in my book. Are there any others out there that have encountered such a huge span?

nevin yes sometimes as in later production the workers just grabbed badges and if they were close they installed them it happens a lot good for date stamp verification or they would b orphan drums nice grab pics

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Bass stamped May 18, 1967 #507xxx

No date stamp present in the 13x9 #435xxx

I understand what they use to do, but never had one 68,000 badges different...that is 68 bags of 1000.

I have an oyster black super classic set that I got in the late 90's. The set came with a 70's style logo rail and a 70's logo style head. I'm pretty sure both of them are original to the set. It also has a date stamp in the floor tom that is Dec 22 196?. it looks like 68 but I am not positive.

The odd thing is that the drums have white interiors(except the bass which someone painted black), and serial numbers in the 247xxx range. it's my theory that the shells were put together in 1966 or so and they sat around and were finished in 1968. Doubt I will ever know?

The badge numbers you quoted are in line with my one-owner set. Here are my numbers:

The Downbeat date stamps are 2/14/67 & 3/17/67 but the brass badges are more than 31,000 digits apart.
