I believe what we are getting at is that no one will want to make a serious offer on anything without pictures. If you think the kit is worth 6k then you need to invest in some serious photographs. No quick camera phone shots will do. Guys will want to see details inside and out for each drum. Bearing edge condition, wrap seams, hardware, badges, rust, pitting, discoloration, scratches, etc. If you think they are worth that, which will unfortunately be very difficult since they are Slingerland (see multiple threads on that subject) then we want to see them and be suitably impressed by them. You will have to do your due dilligence to accomplish that. Of course if they were signed by Louie Bellson and you had some documentation, that might help your case.
Best of luck with your sale.

You might want to check on the going rates for Slingerland kits. They are well loved and fine quality, but they are not considered particularly valuable in the vintage market. Of all the major manufacturers of the time, Slingerland is the red-headed stepchild. There are many opinions on this. My theory is that Slingerland really dropped the ball in marketing in the late 60's and especially in the 70's. They did not transition well from a market that was dominated by Jazz and dance hall music to a generation of drummers that played rock. There were a small number of high profile pop and rock drummers that played Slingerland, and the company tried various things to build market share, not the least of which was wrapping drums in denim. In the end, it was not enough for them to shake the image of being your "father's drum kit.". If you would like to determine value, you HAVE to post detailed photos.

Let me ditto what Scott says in the above post.
And also ditto what he said in his first one: do a search on Slingerland on this site and you will find a wealth of information on Slingerland drums and their value. Not preceived value, but real value.
I would also recommend doing an eBay search on completed listings.
I don't doubt your description of the drums, including what your father paid for them. But even with a set of Ludwigs that cost about the same back-in-the-day, $6K is way too much to expect.
