I'm a little confused. Is it possible this snare is marked wrong (5x14). I only ask because it has a transition badge & I though Jazz Festivals were 5.5"x14" up until 1960.
5x14 or 5.5x14 Jazz Festival Last viewed: 1 hour ago
Super Classics were 5.5 inches deep with a super classic stainer. Jazz Fests were 5 inch depth, and I think they were called Barrett Deems model before they got the jazz festival name in the late 50's. Jazz Fests are often found with depths between 5 and 5.5 inches, especially in the early 1960's. They were not real consistent with the 5 inch depth in those days.
That snare drum in the ad looks like a 6 lug drum to me, known as the Pioneer model.
Looks like an 8 lugger to me.
Cam
I can't tell if that's a 6 or 8 lug drum, but BEC is correct, it will determine whether or not the drum is a Jazz Festival. That particular drum is at the Modesto, CA location. (209) 525 9800 is the # there. I've learned to call the GC that the drum is actually at before buying their vintage gear online.
Good luck.

Stephen is right! Call them and ask questions. That's what I did when I got my Jazz Fest stamped MAY 13 1965 from GC in Richmond, VA. Mine is just under 5-1/2 inches. This one looks a little more than 5" to me. Have them take more pictures and send to you.
Good luck!...if you're thinking of buying it
