59 Slingerland BDP 3 pc

Loading...

Hi All,

Looking at purchasing the above at Guitar Cntr, Totawa NJ

On my way to see it now.

Any suggestions on what to look for besides condition etc?

Interior color, significance of no badges etc.

I have a 60 Niles snare in same color.

Would like a 60's kit, but no luck on finding a 3 pc so far that's in good condition. Really want Bop sizes, but interested in bigger as well.

Thanks a lot

Pretty sure interiors would be mahogany still. Pre serial Chicago black/gold badges. Wrap would not be in the scarf joints this stopped in 56ish. 3 ply mahogany/poplar/mahogany with solid maple re rings. Good stuff. Happy hunting!!

I recall that GC as being overpriced.....

I'm sure you are correct.

Just inspected them, and they are in great shape except for paint chipping on the rims, and 1 slightly bent tee rod on the BD?

The price is 999.00 , so I imagine they would be 650-700 on here.

Thinking on it.

Thnx all

Pretty much as you described.

Very nice condition.

The BD did have a bk/gold Chicago badge w/o serial #

Other 2 drums, no badge

Considering overpaying by about $200-250 to GC ??

They have high rents.

Thanks a lot

Sounds good. Yep no badge on the toms is normal. Great sounding shells very warm and mellow. Post some pics if you grab them!!

How much of a break in price you can get depends on how long the drums have been sitting at the GC waiting for a buyer. If they've been there for a little while, wave some cash in the managers face. Offer him $850 - CASH- If the guy is itchy to move them, he'll haggle out a better price with you. Letting him -see the money- will help!

Put on your Yankee Trading/Negotiating hat and go in there!

Too many great drums to list here!

Ask to talk with the store manager. Lay out 7 $100 bills for the set on the counter or on his desk. Be prepared to hand him a credit card for no more than $100 over that $700 if it includes the drums and the sales tax. If he will not take that offer, thank him for his time, and walk.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

GC store policies must vary as mine won't negotiate on anything.

If you can, just wait it out. Keep on hunting...
