i put my '59 Ludwig pink oyster pearl (transition badge/WFL) Jazz Combo snare on ebay this morning. i've had it since the mid 90's and barely used it in the last 12 years. It is a real beauty and i hate to see it go but i also can't afford to keep it. hope that it goes to a good home.

yeah, sorry. i told everyone who wrote me about it the same thing... that i didn't know how much it was worth but was open to offers. i told everyone that the closest thing i had seen to it was an ebay auction years ago which ended at $1200 for a drum in much worst condition. the only person who threw a number out there offered me $475 (with shipping included) which all of us know is way too low. right?
well, i made it hit your reserve at least!

One sold on ebay last year for $800. I think it was a trans badge but I'm not positive. It had WFL II"s signature on the interior of the shell.

i recall the downbeat that sold for about that amount a few years ago. i think it had the signature as well. wfl2 had given it to todd trent. they photographed the wrap on that drum to make the wrap for the 200 or 250 in pink oyster pearl that were made for guitar center. ive got one of those. todds drum did have an extra hole or two in the shell however.

yeah, i've seen a couple of pink oyster downbeats pop up over the years but i've only ever seen one jazz combo and one misidentified las vegas.

That was the drum I was thinking of, Mike. My mistake, I thought it was a jazz combo.
