I recently picked up a Ludwig 28" marching bass drum shell in Oyster Black Pearl. It does not have any hardware and was drilled for small club date lugs.
The finish needs some work as you can see in the pictures. Suggestions on bringing the luster back to it? I assume I will need to some light wet sanding?????
I originally planned to remove the wrap and apply it to a vintage Jazzfest or Pioneer, but I do not know how feasible it really is to remove the wrap as it looks like there are some splits.
I have a 1968 kit - 20,12,16 kit in OBP with clear maple interiors. I picked it up a few months ago and really like it. While highly functional, the bass and rack were retrofitted with Slingerland hardware.
I also have an orphan 13" tom with a painted interior I picked up a few months ago as well.
I am open to suggestions on what to do with this drum.
I figure I could pick up some hoops, tension rods, heads, clip on spurs, etc., but I am not sure how much I would really use it or how good it would sound as a kit. Ideally, it would be trade bait for a 14" Ludwig floor tom in OBP :)
