Can anyone tell me the difference between Sling and Ludwig vintage mufflers.

Pics 1 and 2 are listed as Sling, but look identical to Ludwig.

Pic 3 is listed as Ludwig, 20's SS.

Did they use the same model?

Thanks

the 1st two are slingerland, the difference is huge to me between slingerland and ludwig, the control knobs. pad shape and the slingerland engraved cups.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

You've got three Slingerland mufflers from different eras.

Thanks guys.

Now that I am looking at pics of the Ludwig ones I have now,

I can see some differences.

I am looking for a few more of these, (see pics) TH&C era, for my project.

I have 2 sizes. 1 longer. 1 shorter.

The main difference I see is the curved mounting bracket coming off the shell.

And the 2 pads on the Slings. 1 on the Ludwigs.

Did Ludwig ever use the 2 pads on 1 muffler?

Thanks again to all.

Not that I am aware of. The reason for the two different sizes may be that one was used for smaller drums and one for larger diameters, like marching drums or floor toms. Just a guess.

Sorry, Scott. I never seem to have enough on hand. Because they were a rather poor design, they were removed from drums quite often. Very rattly.
