Yup...

So, if the tags are gone...(they would have been on the opposite side of the vent hole).

Can you still see a faint outline of the paper tag..?

If the size and dimension of a business card...then fullerttone 1969/71..

If the outline is smaller ...(1" x 2")....then it's a 72/9 series....

As I remember it....basically the same drums...

Also...the snare will have one as well..

The snare is worth $200 unseen ...maybe $250 if the lever and wires are original..all wrk in.

If it's yr 1st time...maybe there worth $800...

Myself,...i'ld start at $500 and hold the line....maybe finish up at $600....max..

Unless these come with all the hardware and decent cymbals....!

Best of luck...

These are big sounding drums...

The Ploughman,

Thanks for the tip regarding the labels. There are no paste ghosts on any of the drums according to the owner. I guess my concern is this kit may be from a time when the quality was not quite as good. If the kit is from the mid 70's I'm not sure how collectible it is now or will be down the road. Or am I off base here?

More than likely, these are the later Fullertons (9/72 series) as I have found that the smaller 9/72 labels have more of a tendancy to peel and fall off than the larger Power Tone Fullerton labels. It really doesn't matter though which year Fullerton these are. They're all the same shell. Very nice drums.

One of the toms seems to have a small issue with the bearing edge. On both sides (top and bottom), at the same point, the bearing edge is sort of flattened out a little for about 1/3 of the way around. I suspect it was not cut correctly originally.

If I have the bearing edges re-cut to be uniform by someone who has a knowledge of Rogers bearing edges and knows what he's doing in order to match the the edges of the other drums, will that affect the value at all? I don't know if you could even tell. I definitely like the idea of the drums being "stock," but I also want them to sound good.

An original edge that is too messed up to tune or sound good is a drum that is worth less than one that has been carefully and faithfully trued to an original profile. The problem with this is that most people do not disclose the chewed up, un-level, flattened out, or otherwise badly imperfect edge on that "original" X brand drum. And the guy that does disclose.. hey, this edge was trashed, and repaired blah blah blah... sells for less. Still, as a potential buyer, I would much better prefer a properly repaired edge being part of the disclosures, than a messed up original that is hidden.

Thanks again for your insight. I was hoping that would be the answer. I wll be inspecting the drums tomorrow and if I pick them up I'll post pics and such after I get them cleaned up.
