1970 Gretsch Rock N Roll kit Last viewed: 1 day ago

Here is my 1970 Gretsch kit. I am looking to find out if I should sell it or keep it in hiding for another 10 years. It is in very good condition for being 40 years old. Has been babied and kept in cases since new. never dropped or abused. I removed a few of the mufflers but kept them and all the parts and pieces. I replaced the original tom holder with a newer Ludwig holder. I truly love the kit, but, I have retired from playing and I hate to watch it sitting in my studio not making people feel the beat. I am entertaining offers and or encouragement to hold on.[Attachment: 17950]

Just because you "retired" doesn't mean you need to quit completely does it?

Unless there are other circumstances not mentioned, why can't you just keep it set up somewhere and play for your own amusemment every so often?

I decided to retire from drumming when my twins were born and I sold my only kit. Within a few years I was craving to play and playing on my friends kits whenever possible. I eventually bought newer drums and play regularly, actually now that my kids are in college I gig all the time. Never thought I would. But I wish I had my old drums, I regret selling.

I know what you mean by wanting to play every now and then. But, have you ever noticed how the drummer has to own the PA and Lights, and Van to get all the stuff to the gig? then set it all up and tear it down usually alone after the dance is over?????????? that's the part that sucks. As far as playing "you gotsta play live" doing with a set of headphones on is like wearing a condom. So in order to do it right there's alot more to it than just swoppin in and rattling off a few cool beats in a room by yourself........Just my opinion. I have sat in many times at a bar or festival where it's all set up and the crowd is ready to RnR. It's a blast ..............DW
