The grommet looks fine and untampered.

Along with the BB muffler........

I would go with the serial number on the badge as the production date....

No such thing as July 32 anyway, ha! A boring day at the Ludwig factory, no doubt. Laughing H

Nice one, man !!!

A scenario here-with the date stamp, could this shell have sat on the shelf and then was put together at the time of the serial number on the badge?

would the drill hole in the shell be of the same size for the muffler whether it be round knob or baseball bat??

The date in the shell is really throwing me-Jul 32 must have been a boring day-the stamp itself does looked "aged" so I dont think any thing has been altered

Pristine drum

Mystery solved-we took a magnfying glass to the date stamp and it is Jul 32 1966-no kidding is does say "32".

So with the bade beginning 366 this does fit the time frame-thanks to everyone for the help.

One of the most pristine supraphonics you will ever see. Super sensitive to boot.

Time to put her on the shelf next to the 1967.

So does anyone have any idea of the $$'s value of a Ludwig 1960 SUPER SENSITIVE (not a supraphonic)? I am the original owner of this drum and used it proudly for many years.

I retired this drum in 2008 only because I bought a great Gretsch "New Classic" kit which I had wanted since college in the mid 60's. The only thing I regret is having changed out the individually adjustable snare wires (because they were more trouble than they were worth. which anyone who has tried to keep them in proper adjustment can attest to) and then somehow losing then sometime in the 70's. It is still in great shape and finish but has been carefully used.

So again how much is this drum now worth?

if its a 60 model, then its brass. that puts a premium on it. condition matters a lot. even though there aren't as many of these around as there are supras, they don't usually bring quite as much. some people just prefer the more simpler strainer on the supra. if its nice, easily worth 6-800 bucks in my opinion. if its a 6.5 depth, even more.
