Thanks VM2K! This is my first vintage kit but the start of a new addiction. I actually ended up paying $1350 for it. Jump For Joy

Those are pre-Transition badge, and not to long after that was the switch. I think with a 6-lug snare you paid a little more than I would of. The cleanliness of the drums in the pics may made it worth it. Hard to tell unless you're up close, but when you see up close.....things become more desirable.

Snare is 5 1/2x14. I agree, the craftsmanship at that time was great. You can see in the pictures I posted a link to, the date stamp says May 1958.

Any recommendations for how to maintain the value and condition of the set? Maybe rub it down with oil and massage it? I'm gonna need to find some rubber feet for the floor tom and bass drum. Anyone know where I could find some and what I can expect to pay?

Flitz is good for cleaning the metals. Novus for the wrap, and try the seller goddahav for the rubber tips. As far as the inner wood surface, somebody will pipe in. I don't have issues with temps where I live.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/thebaumer/sets/72157625463868106/Alright all you cynical old f*rts, here are the pics...To all of the rest of those HELPFUL people out there, what do you guys think the value of a set like this is. I can't wait to start playing on it and eventually gigging with it but until then, it's my baby and ain't nobody gonna touch it!

I don't think anybody was being cynical. Nothing tells the story and condition of the drums like a good set of pictures. Also pictures of cool old kits are always welcome.

There's an old forum line that goes something like "If there's no pics, then it doesn't exist" Cool Dude

goddahav sells the rubber feet but looks like all he has now are the 1/2" tips, which I think is what the floor tom would take..

No problem Mortar, I totally understand and was really just joking myself. I am very grateful to have the help from all of you. Thanks for the rubber feet source, I will have to get in touch with him.

Slingalud, WOW, thanks for such awesome info. It's cool to know all I can about what I'm playing. That's pretty cool to hear, glad I got hold of some of that good wood while it was still available.

backbeatkeeper, I will be sure to give my drums only the best love. Thanks for the recommendation of products for cleaning.

Happy to be part of the community... THANKS GUYS!
