Kona (Gary) I think your right. It seems this was a Lustre-Blue Lacquer that has faded wonderfully to this olive color. But without actual color pictures of this factory color, it's still up in the air but this narrows it right down..

I stick with blue metalic lacquer. It`s in the 54 cat and what I see under that lug.

As for getting a full color photo from 58, I think not. A full color drawing wont do and a color photo from 58 wont do any justice either. The best you could prolly do is paper work from original delivery, maybe the box.

Since the drums are stamped 1948 and in The Gretsch Drum Book it shows that Blue Metallic was used between 1955-1958, I'm leaning towards Lustre-Blue Lacquer, but I appreciate your suggestion since we both know this could be either color since they were experimenting in the factory all the time.
