1928-1929 Ludwig pearl Last viewed: 2 hours ago

I am looking for information about this pattern as I may be looking to sell them soon. The snare is a 10 lug and its 5 x 14 and the kick measures 16x28. Not sure about the pedal plus i have the snare case which looks like an old suitcase. There are no markings on the case though.

Thanks,

James

That snare drum will have L-A-R-G-E value to a rare finish collector -likely thousands of dollars, in my opinion. The set of drums will be worth even more and, if you sell them, then they should be sold together as a set. Please don't break them up. They've managed to stay together this long, so for historical purposes, they should stay together.

Yes, definately keep them together. I had an orphan bass drum in Marble Pearl and I sold it because there was not a snare drum to be found. Very nice set!

I know James. I recommended him to post these drums on here. Yesterday I went over and took a look at them, and they are in really great shape for their age. In "as found" condition, they are of course in need of being cleaned. However, I could not find any splits or gouges in the wrap, no cigarette burns were noticed on the BD, both drums appear to be round. Bass drum has calf heads. Claws and Rods show wear, and age, but look to all be the same. There is a small piece missing from one of the bd hoops where a hoop spur broke a piece of the edge, aprox, 1/4x maybe 2.5 inches.

The snare drum has a calf snare side. The flesh hoop is a bit warped. Top head is a very old Ambassador. The metal on the snare drum is not nicked up, but does need cleaned. The throw off is missing a part of the lever, but does function. Looking through the vent hole, I noticed one fastener missing on a lug, but that was the only thing not present in the parts I could see. I did not disassemble the drum. All of the clips and tension rods are exactly alike. I think they will clean up nicely.

In short, they are beautiful. Not something I collect, and I admit, not something I know a lot about. But........ a very beautiful set of drums.
