From Shawn M

Thats whats on there now, albeit totally worn out.

I don't know (so I need to research, huh?) if they were standard on Slingerland Concert toms. However, it is my understanding that the Remo CS black dot heads were originally manufactured specifically for use on and as standard issue on Pearl's concert toms in the mid-to-late 70s. Then at least by 1978 they were standard on all of Pearl's fiberglass and wood/fiberglass drums.

My 1978 set came with Remo clear/black dot heads on batter and resonance sides. Remo heads but with the smaller Pearl logo...

And, for what it's worth, there is a seller on eBay that has some sizes of original NOS Pearl/Remo CS clear/black dot heads at some pretty reasonable prices. I'll post a link when I get a chance...

He's got some other sizes available as well, just have to check on his "other items." I've dealt with him one time, and was very satisfied...

I believe all the bottom "rings" are aluminum. At least they're not magnetic and have a very aluminum look to them.

That`s a good thing because now you can take it off and run a block with sandpaper (220) across the top edge of it right down to the Aluminum and get that rust off !!

Although the crowd wont see it, that would bug the sh*t outta me and prolly any other drummer/buyer !!

oddball, thats not rust!

The entire kit has gigging schmutz all over it..like 40 year old dried beer mixed with cigarette smoke and dust.

I've met grease that it is easier to remove from suede..
