Where are you most comfortable as a drummer?
I agree. Classic R&B is where it's at. Al Green. Marvin. Even the Bee Gees. Vintage drums were made for this genre.

Someone here at VDF did the same last year or so with a club date. Stripped and stained. Looked sweet. Had a cool "birth mark" on the rack tom.
