Hey guys,
i've aquired a Marius Renatus Bruxelles complete drum set, with tom, snare,2 cymbals, hi hat, stands and 4 wood blocks - i've been told its circa 1930's.
I cant find any information about the make on the internet, I've asked advice from many vintage drum experts, and I've also asked antique dealers who know about musical instruments, but I'm drawing a blank everywhere!!
Has anyone heard of the make?
Does any one know where I might be able to get more information??

GOOD LORD!! That's one of the coolest kits EVER!!! I LOVE old kits like that! Thanks for sharing. I have NO idea about it, but for now, I'm going to just enjoy looking at that drum set! WOW! JUST WOW!

Well, I put some "feelers" out there to try and track down more information. Here's what I have deduced so far:
The drums are NOT American. I believe they are Belgian! "Bruxelles" is a city in Belgium and since that name is included on the badge, then I'm going to assume it's like how "Chicago" is included on an old Ludwig badge.
Also, that is NOT an American finish. I've never seen it anyway.
There seems to be LOTS of aluminum components on it. Aluminum was the 'new' super metal when it became commercially-feasible to use back in the 30's. It was the latest thing!
Whoever owned that drum set was no slouch! That's a professional-level kit that would have been used in some nice places. It was NOT for a kid!

An alittle more info.. First the wood blocks and hardwear,table on top of bass drum are from the 20s-30s hard to pin point the maker many American makes--ludwig,luddy,slingerland used these blocks and mounting parts,tables on their sets.Iam thinking the set is a american made set back in the 20s-30s Leddy used to make drums for "Drum House's" or music stores non badged and they the music store would put a paper lable inside the drums and or badges on the drums--look for a paper lable--also inside the shells look for Leddy it will be stamp in the shell..I also think that the drums are leddy by the lugs amd T-rods on the bass drum..I dont think the lugs are Aluminum they should be Brass to fine this out take a lug off and see if it feels heavy,Aluminum lugs will be very lite...If you could post some photos of the snare drum strainer and full photos of the hi-hat stand i will be able to tell you more about the drums,strainer photo would tell me alot...By the way WHAT A VERY COOL SET YOU HAVE>>>Mikey

Its great to be told that this kit is a professional level set, thats really good news....
regards to the paper labels inside the shells, or any other stamps for that matter inside the shells... there are none...
here are some more pictures, the hi hat pedal says SONORUS on it, and what looks like its been carved into it the words "Super Class"...
the drums are from belgium that sounds right, bruxelles means brussels a lovely town in belgium,

These drums are most definitely European and I'm sticking with Brussels, Belgium as the point of origin.
Look at those slotted lug screws! -European!
That finish is very nice. Again, I've NEVER seen it before.
And it appears that some components are indeed aluminum and some may be painted(?) to look like aluminum.
Could you take a few pictures of the interior of the tom tom and also take some of the tom tom from the top? I want to get a look at the tom tom's rim and t-rods.
I've been in contact with a drum forum in England and Amsterdam that might turn up some more information, eventually.
