Hello, just discovered this post.
I have got a snare of the same type. It's a Gretsch Model 4105 Dixieland 5x14 in Champagne sparkle with a Don Worth chrome plaque attached to the shell. The serial no. is 4974, directly printed on the silver shell interior. (No paper tag) The lug casing attachment screws are round, so I would say this drum was built in the early 1960s.
It has an internal muffler which I have never seen on standard 4105 snares, I suppose that is what made these snares "Don Worth models".

I have absolutely no idea how many of these have been built. The only information I have is that my 4974 has been the back-up snare for a Gretsch Name Band outfit played by a drummer from the Portland area.
It would be great if anyone could tell me more about the history of these Don Worth snares!
