You mean like this one??!! This is a 1973, and I've had it for quite some time. I saw Buddy LIVE 5 times between 1973 and 1978... twice he was playing the Fibes SFT 690 COF. No big secret to his set up on the drum: Coated Ambassador on top... Fibes clear on the resonant, which was made for Fibes by Remo. Head tension was actually medium on the batter. As you already know, these snare drums are CRISP!... exremely articulate... and cut like a hot knife through butter. It was Buddy that supplied the rest!! Enjoy!!

Glad you enjoyed the drum, and THANKS for the nice words! Sorry I wasn't specific on the resonant side regarding what model/weight. Back then it was the Remo Ambassador Snare, Hazy... today that head is still made, but I believe it's CLEAR now... but the weight is approx. the same. Of note,

Buddy was with Fibes as far back as 1967, and he was playing a Fibes SFT 690 COF "prototype" as it was an 8 lug model then... ( not 10 lug like the final production model ) ... and it had a pre SFT strainer/butt as the final production model wasn't standard as yet. Still a COF shell though, that didn't change. Anyway, I have one of the "prototypes", the exact model Buddy was playing in 1967... RARE... near impossible to find... but I finally did find one after years of looking. I'm restoring it right now, and it's almost finished. I will have to post it up for you to see when it's completed!

I played one of those with a late-70s Fibes kit for a few years. A fantastic snare drum, and great kit as well. I didn't know at the time that Buddy played one.
