Speed King Disassembly....need help

Hey guys, I have searched the posts and really haven't found the answer to my question so here it goes.

I am in the process of disassembling a Speed King pedal and I am kind of stuck on the next step. I have completely take apart everything up to removing the bearings and center section between the two uprights. I have all the old gunk and crud cleaned out but would like to take out the bearings, cams and center section so I can bead blast and refinish the body. I can get the two pins out that hold the center section to the cams but didn't want to mess with them until I got some feedback from you guys. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ludwig-dude.......no disrespect but did you read my post??? I read that link you posted in my initial search. That thread tells all about getting the caps off......already did that. I am trying to removed the actual bearings and cams to remove the center section. Unless I am unable to read, that post didn't clarify a process to remove those parts. What I am trying to accomplish is to strip the center section completely so I can bead blast it and refinish it. If you have another thread that helps me with that I would greatly appreciate it.

Spray some brake cleaner into the bearings, it should loosen the crud, then the bearings will come out. Use a small punch to drive out the roll pins and then the cams should come out, then the center section.

BTW, you mentioned nothing about already having removed the caps. The way it was worded, it read like this is where you were stuck.

Ok, got it completely taken apart. Will bead blast it on Monday. What do you guys think of polishing the piece instead of painting it back with the silver paint like it was stock??? Let me know you opinion.

only the new ones have black on them i believe all of mine are just silver and chrome... polished would look good..

Yes, I think so too.....polished it is. I am going to bead blast it then put it in the media vibrator for an hour or so, that will take out any little imperfections on the surfaces and then it will be polished to a mirror shine.

And I will give you guys a little hint on what else I have planned. It involves billet aluminum a CNC machine and will eliminate all the squeaks and flaws in the original design of the floor connection plate. You guys will be drooling over the finished product. Stay tuned.

What, you don't like the patented Speed King squeak? It's great fun during slow tempo songs for marking time during drum part pauses.
