Ludwig Vistalite Power Factory

Hey Guys,

Just picked up this bad boy today. I wasn't necessarily looking for a 9 piece concert tom vistalite set but sometimes opportunities present themselves:) Needs a couple of small things but can't complain for a 40 year old set.

The color is smoke and the sizes are 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, 22 with a LM-402. It can with the tom stands and snare stand. It also came with a couple of entry Meinl cymbals, a cheap bass pedal, misc. Heads, etc.

There are a few scuffs but no cracks or spiderwebbing. A lug on the bass drum has broken off but I have the lug so need to look into that. The bass drum spurs are missing. The spur mounts are there but not the rods. The floor tom is missing the bottom lugs and hoop. The snare is missing 1/3 of the chrome plating. The funny thing there is someone tapped the Ludalloy sticker on the outside.

I can't seem to post a pic from my phone so will shortly from my computer.

The badges are all pointy blue/olive. The serial numbers range from 184XXXX - 186XXXX except the bass drum is 167XXXX. Does this put these drums at about 1979?

Somebody was proud of the Ludalloy sticker.

For the toms I'd think that late 70s would be a good guess and near the transition to rounded badges.

Can you tell if the bass drum had 5/16-in spurs or 1/2-in spurs?

Here is a pic of the set.

Hopefully it worked.

Here are a few picks of the snare. Although ratted out, finally got my Bonham snare.

Cracks me up seeing the 9 wire holding the snare wires, having the badge and the Ludalloy sticker taped to the outside. Especially with the Ludalloy sticker bragging about being a reliable plating process!

I like the supra. I had a 70s supra that peeled/blistered on the inside of the drum- everywhere but where the anti-galvanic sticker was. Made me laugh.

Thanks for the link Mr. Tonkie!

The spurs should be 1/2".

The irony is so thick you could cut it with a knife...
