I saw a thread about these over at the DFO. Very cool. Priced pretty fairly too. I've bought a couple of okay condition originals off ebay for in the $50-$70 range but at the last Chicago show the only ones I saw they were asking $180 apiece.

Good luck with that sort of pricing once word about these gets around.

It's pretty cool Mark. I had seen that too. Set-o-matic was a good mounting system, particularly in the single tom version. Jack's Drum Shop in Boston used them instead of the standard Walberg and Auge mount on the Gretsch kits they sold.

Back in the day, we have Hydramatic, Ford-o-matic, Swiv-o-matic and Set-o-matic in that order. I always liked the marketing that the drum companies did with names like that and Dynasonic or PowerTone. Too cool.

Nice to see this.

Some years ago, I was luckily able to acquire a few new NOS Rods with the Plastic Balls. from Musical Closeouts in case the one on my set ever went bad. I sold one, and smartly kept 2 new spares on hand.

Over the years, I have seen these made from Slingerland with what appeared to be two different materials. And that some had a propensity to crack.

Maybe next, my old friend Steve will be coming out with the little Swiv-O-Matic ends for the Slingy Splash Cymbal Rods, just like on his own Slingy BR Set and how Buddy personally preferred them!

Nope, never forgot that little tweak on his treasured set!

I think you might be referring to the Zildjian Cymbal Snaps? If so, those weren't a Slingerland item of course, rather Zildjian. Buddy did indeed use those with pretty much all his sets once they came out. Very hard to find today, and when you do ... expensive. Zildjian should bring those back! I used them like a lot of other guys, and due to vibration over time, eventually the little pin would fall out and render the "snap" useless. So ... off to the drum shop to buy another 6 cards or so. They came two to a card as I recall, and they were cheap! Who knew? We should have all bought a gross and sat on 'em! :) I use the CAMBER "T" tops on all my sets now. They are CAST and don't break. All my stands are Rogers Swivo/Swan Legs, so I needed the 6mm "T" tops to fit the threads correctly. Those are hard to find now too! I'm not sure if CAMBER is still making them. I don't think so though. You can see them pretty easily on my Fibes in this pic ...
