I didn't notice any extra holes. In which photo did you see them? I did see that the bass drum could be turned upright (with the badge at the top) which would place the tom rail at a more traditional location. If I were to purchase these, that is what I'd do. Did you mean extra holes in the tom?

No, I`ve never seen a tom-tom with clips come with a BD with a bracket. The bracket shouldn`t be there in 59 with clip hoops.

Either it was installed after, because the hoop spurs would go with the clip mount tom-tom, or the BD and snare are family with the tom-tom added.

If you remove the bracket, you`ll see the holes.

I believe the badge was more forward with a bracket. His is centered.

I`m a SONOR/Phonic guy so, not written in stone.

Absolutely not 100% factory

Wrap looks amazing for 40's-50's. Nice extras. Good luck with sale.

There was a comment "The bracket shouldn`t be there in 59 with clip hoops." Just to clarify these are 1949 not 1959 drums.

And there has been some debate about holes and clips so what I can tell you is these drums were purchased in 1949 and played by my father in law till his illness and he passed in 1985. They were stored away since then in an upstairs closet not in basement or anywhere humid. We took good care of them. To the best of my and my wife's knowledge he never had anything done to them or altered them they are original. I looked at the holes I think you are referring to and they are spaced perfectly so I think they are factory drilled Possibly to hook brackets on and fasten drums together. We are asking questions and asking for help and doing our best to represent these drums honestly. Her dad was a drum lover and loved playing them. If there are any questions please ask and if you want specific pictures I can take pics of anything you want. Thanks for all you folks time and the posts and comments and help.

Just for the record.

I do believe the bass drum is set up wrong.

The head with the lettering should be facing front not the batter head.

The badge should also be on top of the bass drum when sitting flat.

this would put the tom to the left side correctly and facing the side with the non lettered (resonant) side head. The head with the wording on it is then not straight when set up right and would have to be moved to be horizontally correct.

Also the hoop inlays/or bass drum hoops do not seem to be the same BDP for that year.

Could be the picture though and could be wrong on all accounts for that matter.

If you can set it up like I just mentioned and take another picture it would shed some light I think.

I still think that tom-tom should be a hoop mounted and that bracket should not be there.
