Maxwell taking orders for "new" Dynasonic

Loading...

We had discussed this snare drum, offered by Dixon, some months ago. It was my understanding that no one really saw it at NAMM and that, at least for the immediate future, it was nothing but "vaporware"!

I found this thread over at DFO, which seems to prove otherwise!

Tommyp, can you weigh in on this?

Hey Mark!

I can indeed ... turns out that Steve Maxwell has the exclusive distributor/selling right s on the NEW Rogers Dynasonic. All true! They decided on a "soft release" at the Chicago Drum Show, but it was anything BUT soft! The Rogers guys got a hold of it and it spread like wildfire, which was the intent of course! Steve Maxwell has been working on this for the past two years actually .. quietly .. but now, it's out! I haven't seen/read and of the DFO chatter, but I'm sure it's accurate. A LOT of those guys were at the show, and of course even MORE guys from the Rogers FB groups were at the show too. $200.00 deposit required, but Steve is taking orders on the drum now! Selling price is $800.00. Lastly, Bill Detamore from Pork Pie is handing the builds. All the parts are imported from Taiwan/ROC, but completely assembled in the USA. Parts are also available now as well! They SOLD OUT of parts at the show ... mostly B&B lugs, which are now CAST and WILL FIT older Rogers. :)

Yep. I was able to speak with Steve about it at length. Here is the story:

- The folks who own Gibraltar Hardware purchased the rights to the Rogers name from Yamaha.

- Steve is handling the business of rolling out Rogers USA (the new venture)

- The 1st product being rolled out is the WMP Wood Dynasonic. $799 retail. They will be available from Maxwell and select dealers. And by select, I mean, very select.

- There are plans to roll out more product incrementally: Lugs, Hardware, and parts that can be retrofitted to your existing Rogers kit.

- No word yet if more drums are going to be released (probably, but not for a little while) and when (Powertone snares, kits, etc)

- You can purchase all new parts right now for your Dyna (frames with snares, B&B lugs, throws and butts, tall boy hoops) though it sounds like they are back ordered.

- Tom B&B lugs are next up in the release cycle.

- It sounds like you can order a Dyna from Maxwell in any color you want- as long as it is WMP!!!!

And yes, the Dyna Steve had in Chicago sounded sweet.

Hello!

Steve made mention that B&B's are available BEFORE Beavertails, and the stock he brought to the show to sell, SOLD OUT. ALL other parts are indeed currently available! Truth be told, I was privy to all of this long before I could say anything ... if you know what I mean! :) Otherwise, nice report! THANKS!!!

Thanks for the post Mark and details from the others. Seems exciting. Would you guys tend to think it will devalue our original Dynasonics, or as with a Shelby Cobra, send the prices of the originals into orbit?
