Mark/Mike/Dan!
The day of the $3500.00 Rogers Dynasonic is over I would say! I sincerely doubt he will get that for it .. but .. as we all know, it just takes that ONE GUY that HAS to have it! Being a 1969, I don't feel it should even be in that range, price wise. To ask that, the drum should be between 1964 and 1968. Those were still Cleveland tagged drums, and in the span that Buddy and Louie were playing theirs. I bought my 1968 close to 15 years ago, and paid $2800.00 for it then ... and that was a lot! I will also say that the reason I did that was, back then the serial number dating system was in it's infancy, and this drum was thought to be a 1966! I was freaked, as THAT was the year BR's was shown on the cover of the "Swingin' New Big Band album" ... so I gladly paid the $2800.00. The drum is near MINT original condition, but that was a good amount of coin back then even. A $3500.00 asking price on this drum today is way out of line. Today that "should" sell between $1500.00 and $2000.00, tops. Especially for that year .. ( 1969 ) . The JMCD copies are actually, dare I say, superior across the board in their construction and attention to detail. Mark/Mike, the drums you have that JM built are KILLER, and CONSISTENT in how they play/sound, drum to drum. Not so with a genuine Rogers wood Dynasonic. There are dogs! I have owned five of them!, and out of that five, two were KILLER. The other three were good mind you, but not GREAT. Anyway, so much of this is subjective to personal opinion of course .. and .. outside of my Fibes SFT690's, the wood Dynasonic is my main snare drum! Course I have a couple beauties now though in that they play/sound GREAT! Here's a pic or two of my 1968...
