It costs about 1350$.

The set looks like it is in a decent shape.

Do you think it is worth the money?

That looks to be a 1978-1980 satin kit before they went to the lacquered 'super mahogany' finish. Likely 6 ply shells.

I recently sold a very clean collectible first year 1976 Superstar kit in the same finish, 4ply with re-rings, 22/16/14/13. Based on my experience listing on DFO, if you are talking just the shellkit, I would say they are priced a bit high. No more than $1000.

Keep in mind, you are dealing with a serious Tama collector there. Look at those in-lay snares on the left side of the rack. Looks like a Dunnett on the right as well. Have him throw in one of those and you've got a deal at $1350.

$1350 seemed a tad high to me as well. While great high end drums, they did make a lot of them. I have two kits ( one '70s, other '80s ) both in Super Maple. The '70s is a virgin 22",12",13",14",15" concert toms & 18" floor tom. This kit was at my friends studio from the moment his dad bought it - 20+ years ago. Looks as good as it did new. $400 ( Granted they have concert toms ) My other is dual 24" bass,12",13",14",15" Xtras toms,16",18" floor ( also came with a steel mastercraft ) $600. Now maybe the sizes I got aren't the most desirable, but from my personal experience these drums are just everywhere. And I see a lot of them in really good shape. Honestly I feel like there is a pure white six piece for sale locally that includes a snare for $1,000 ( maybe less )

Thanks for the replies!

I also had the feeling that the price is a bit too high even considering the really good shape the set is in.

Also I contacted the seller and the shells are indeed the thicker 6ply shells.

Maybe he's willing to heavily negotiate on the price :D

Yeah, I'm starting to think it is a bit high as well, but they're in great shape though..

Good drums, overpriced by $500 in a buyers market. He'd be hard-pressed to sell thaem for asking price given $1,350 could get you a much desirable kit.

I just picked up a four piece Tama Superstar in super maple for $399. 22, 13, 14, 16. Way . . . Way . . . . overpriced. Having said that, it is a shame that they are so undervalued. It works out great as a buyer, but I know that the tops I would get for my kit in a fully advertised ebay auction is about $600. He has one more drum so I would not go over $750.
