New Tama Flat Base Cymbal Stands-As close as anyone has come yet to the 60's Ludwigs Last viewed: 8 hours ago

Man, it is strange that not even one of these companies get it that there is a demand for 6 mm posts! Thanks Steve, poppies and Mark./Magnus

Exactly! If you're going to go vintage, go all the way. Here's an idea. Make the threaded post and nylon sleeve 6mm... AND... include a custom nylon sleeve to use for larger 8mm cymbal holes. Just a thought!

Does the threaded post thread into the tilter like some do? [pic] If so maybe it could be replaced with a 6mm post...

Excellent idea! We just need to see how the tilter is assembled.

I just sent a message to Shane, the owner of Drum Center of Portsmouth. He sells these stands and I asked him to see how the post is attached to the tilter. Will let you all know if I get a response back.

Here's a good picture of the stand from Steve Maxwell's website. It does look like a roll pin at 2 locations on the tilter. Double-click the picture to see it "supersized".

One thing I like about the Tama stands is how small the feet are compared to the other flat stands out there. The rubber feet on the DW and Pearl stands are far too clunky and distract the eye. That said... up until a couple weeks ago I wanted the Pearl stands. So who knows what my tastes will be by July! Cool Dude

Say, have you guys seen these yet?

I've been using them for a few months now and they are not only fantastic, but use a 6mm tilter:

I really do like the look of the Canopus stands, but I worry they wouldn't stand up to my heavy playing.

I seem to remember them being fairly pricey, did you have to go notably higher than the $60 new Tama stands?

Yep if that is a roll pin it almost certainly is for the post. But the post is almost certainly pressure-fitted into the tilter. Doable but not for the faint of heart. Cool pic btw, I couldn't find anything that useful...and hot damn I love these stands!
