Help identify vintage bass drum

Loading...

I aquired this blue sparkle bass drum off of craigslist for a whopping 10$. It came with a tom mount which I can also not identify. The wrap is intact but is faded due to bad storage conditions from the previous owner.

All help is appreciated! :)

From what I see based on the lugs and mount what you have is a 1960's MIJ bass drum. As far as a name goes, you'll likely never be 100%. They made so many, and so many of the names were literally identical drums. Good score though for $10. Aside the wrap fade everything looks to be there and in good shape.

I believe that is made by Star. A good pic of that mount on the side of the BD (mount for a cymbal arm) would help confirm it.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

That's a very exciting cheap little drum! Jay is right about designating brand but suffice to say you got the good stuff - wooden hoops, stylish casings, faucet-type T-rods...

The wrap is unique to the history of that drum and from the picture it's really beautiful. Is that shell warpage below the cymbal mount toward the batter? Hopefully not but if so you can patch it up however and it will still sound great. Especially for ten bucks!
