Ah ok. Out of these less desired drums, which one is even less desirable? The Jupiter or the B-thingy-ma-jig. Is the Gladstone style throw easier to deal with?

AFAIK: The Jupiter Model is 4814 with parallel strainer.

Steel Version is Model: D4514 with the first Gladstone throw.

Yeah! A 4214! This is my new favorite snare & I gigged with mine just last night. I also own a B-714D (6.5 deep), same COB 3-line shell. I'm gonna hoard as many of these as I can. The 4214 is the snare I always wanted. Great snap but retains a nice low bottom-end too.

I'm seeing some of these with Die-cast rims too. Is that later models?

I believe so although I can't determine the years that was the case.

Copeland's had a die-cast on top.

I generally hate those lugs - but they don't bug me at all on that! That sure cleaned up nice! I love the Gladstone. I restored a friend's snare like this - but it was steel.

Maybe I should have looked these up, Up to quite recently I've been playing in a 3 piece police tribute band. I wonder how much they cost?. I had first been using a cob worldmax black dawg, cranked. then got a 64 supra but it had a faulty snare responce , then a 78 acro, just recently I part exed the supra for a cob premier hi- Fi, - so far so good with this one. ( I was using the snares for other stuff too) - I think you can use any decent cob snare for any application. Should have had this though. The BandThe band has fizzled out though. I have a suspicion that our 'sting' is giging out on his own- £££ :mad: I might be wrong though lol. I hope I haven't highjacked the thread here, but the drum that copeland used is relevant. And sounded great.

I'm of the same thinking as Dan Boucher that that pearl snare doesn't 'look' good , apart from the throw which looks great, but good sound to me is definately of uppermost importance. I hope I haven't offended you with the looks thing, anyway it's what copeland used and that's a great sound. That's too true.
