Very interesting thread. I picked up a pair of similar Keystone timbales in a pawn shop a few years back. Each came with a different rim as you can see by the pics. I much prefer the sound of the cast rim and would like to find another. But either way, I'm thinking I should take Cuquito's advice and change out the heads.

gwm Yeah put calf on them and you will see the difference I have a set of rims with calf heads already mounted and they are brand new. If you need let me know.
