Yeah but for $2000? You reckon? They fetch rather well these days don't they?

Clarification...
When you say "matching snare drum", do you mean a wood-shell with matching wrap? That's what I'm assuming.

Hi everyone. I'm fairly new to the forum and haven't posted here before, so if this is an inappropriate reply to Verminator's fun game, I apologize. I may have exactly what he is looking for, but I haven't decided if I would sell at this time. I have a Slingerland Gene Krupa Deluxe Outfit No. 1N set that I bought back in 1967 from the original owner. It is complete as pictured in the 1963 catalog, including the cow bell. The bass and small tom each have a date stamp of Nov 1962 and the large tom has Jan (unreadable ink blob). It no doubt is 1963, but I can't make that claim. The snare has no date stamp, but does have the Zoomatic strainer first made in 1962. The bass and snare have the Niles, Illinois badges that were first used in Oct 1962. The snare is serial #3754 and the bass is #3780. The think the set would be considered in pristine condition except for two things. The WMP has some yellowing, which is probably caused by the smoky clubs I played back in 1970-72. They were kept in hard side cases at all times when not in use. The other thing is the bass rims are missing the WMP bands that were present when I bought the set. They came loose at one point and I removed them. Stupid, I know, but who knew back then. Anyway, I'll stop now and see if I can post a couple of pics. Thanks for letting me share. URL for the Slingerland 1963 catalog: http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/slingerland_drumsets_1963.html
To play your game, any of the big four American companies would serve your purpose. Beyond my bias toward Slingerland, they also seem to be the least expensive in the current market.
Since you sold all of your gear in the first place and this appears to be a one-off gig, why not rent a kit? If you live in Southern California, I'd be happy to lend you one of my Slingerland sets (and roadie it for you if our schedules worked out). Then you'd have all $2,000 left over.
They're all five pieces, but I have enough gear to mount the 12 or 13 on the bass drum or on a stand. From the sets below, only the Blakrome and walnut have matching snares. I use a COB TDR with the others. A Supraphonic, Super Sensitive, and Dynasonic are among other available snare options. If you need wood, there's also a Yamaha Oak Custom: While not vintage, it's an absolute killer.

I know where a kit is now for 1100,00 a 5 piece kit.
Wow ok. What sizes? I'm sure they are more expensive over here in the UK

By matching I mean that it came with the original set. So, it could be a matching wrap or a metal snare as well.
24/12/13/16 My mistake it is a four piece kit,
I'ld rent the kit..Lololol....and save my $$ for a deal not to miss...lolol
