I saw many episodes of "Midnight Special" when they were first run.

On your next birthday, ask her for some dvds of "Don Kirshner's Rock Concert" videos from the same era.

one episode i watched last night was Billy Preston and the drummer behind him had a clear double bass set that i really couldn't identify but it definitely wasn't a ludwig.

I was just watching Kool and the Gang do "Jungle Boogie" on Don Kirshner and was trying to make out the kit George Brown was playing.

From 2:27-2:29 you can see the lugs on the toms, but in typical '70s fashion the front head was removed. Can anyone guess what type of drums they are from those lugs? Slingerland maybe? Gretsch?

i remember both of these shows, we'd get in trouble for staying up too late, bed time was 10 o'clock back then and momma was strick about that. the Midnight Special is a stronger memory for me. i remember Dons show but not as well as i remember The Midnight Special.

all this remembering has brought up a question...was CCRs the Midnight Special song written for that show? i know...dumb question.

"Midnight Special" is a traditional folk song thought to have originated among prisoners in the American South.[1] The title comes from the refrain, which refers to the passenger train Midnight Special and its "ever-loving light" (sometimes "ever-living light").
