My 13" Ludwig tom is choking when it's mounted on L-arm. Anyone else have this problem?

What position is it mounted at? I haven't had this problem with any of my ludwigs. Slingerlands yes.
JR, I noticed the other day on my club-date, did choke up a bit, like i had muffler on ..
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp
once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Like this....
Turn the L-arm upside down! Have it come in from the top instead of the bottom of the mount. You'll hear the difference right away.

Really, does that work? I've never seen anyone mount a tom on a vintage kit that way.
Hey Mark when did you get this Ludwig kit?
Why would I have suggested it if doesn't work?????
You have a problem I have encountered. Another drummer taught me the trick of turning the L-arm upside down to solve the problem. It worked. Now I'm sharing it with you.
No intrigue going on. Try it! If it doesn't work, then try something else, but don't question or dismiss it until you have tried it.
I get it, Mark, you don't trust me... do you trust Bob Gatzen?

John, this has nothing to do with trusting you, believe it or not, I have heard of this, but I've never seen anyone use this method on a vintage kit.
I got this kit about two weeks ago for $350.
