Vintage Drum story with a Burgundy HAPPY Ending Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Bottom-line, you ended up with your dream kit! Put the rest behind you. It was an adventure for you and that's more than half the fun, sweating it out and then having everything fall into place is an amazing experience.

Enjoy your dream tubs for many years to come.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Speaking of shipping "horror stories" I once had a Yamaha M916 mixer shipped to me via FedEx with nothing but one layer of cardboard wrapped around it. If you're familiar at all with these old "rosewood" mixers you know that they are large and heavy items. The shear idiocy involved in shipping a delicate electronic instrument like that was more than I could fathom. I had paid a pretty serious amount for the shipping too. The board was all messed up with the wood frame broken in several places. This was back in the early days of ebay before they became so dedicated to buyer satisfaction. I had sent a money order as payment and the seller would not answer any of my emails. I ended up piecing it back together as best I could and in the end I think I traded it to Music Go Round even up for a Rogers floor tom.

I lost a bunch of money on that deal (that will teach me for buying an old dinosaur of a board that I had coveted back in the day). Ebay seems to be kind of one sided in the buyer's corner these days but in some instances that is a good thing. I wish they would have helped me out back then.

Great story and congratulations on scoring your dream kit. Where are you playing in San Diego? I'd love to stop by and check you and your drums out and say hi.

I'll be at The Rabbit Hole in Normal Heights on 2/20 from 9-12. The band is called Three Chord Justice. We play all over SoCal & I use a variety of vintage Ludwig kits. http://www.threechordjustice.com

Glad things worked out !!

I'm also glad I didn't go after the Club Dates....they were on my watch list....:)

I'm the guy VTM mentioned earlier with the unfortunate Sonor experience.

Mark literally had to sit on the bass drum to "egg it" so we could get the nested drum out....a real shame the damage that was done by poor packing.

Even the UPS delivery guy said, "Kevin, this doesn't sound good." None of the hardware had been wrapped, either.....everything was clanking around as he brought the package to the door.

Anyhow, Super Score and glad you'll be gigging those Beauties !!

Rob those are gorgeous! Champagne is still on my list but will have to wait for now. Yes, I'm pretty stoked to FINALLY have the "Root Beer" sparkles. You never see these out really. At least I never do. My awesome wife had a 6 pack waiting for me when I got home with them. Now she gets a matching vintage dress. We have this cool deal worked out..Cool Dude
