Got this one a few weeks ago via eBay.
It has a name, some addresses and dates (20's & 30's) on the torn batter head. Both heads unusable, one of the 6 T-Rods has a missing part, there's no butt end for the strainer and the snare strings were cut off (unusable). There are some dates (20's & 30's) and addresses and a name and address associated with Detroit Mich on the torn batter head. Would be interesting to know the history of this drum.
I cleaned the 3 x 13 5/8" wood shell and hoops and tuck some calfhide on the flesh-hoops. I bought an old pair of shoes at a thrift store and fashioned a sturdy leather butt end for the snare strings. I used woven Hemp string for the snares. I had some tap&dye work to do on the strainer screws.
The drum now is a 5 Thumbscrew T-Rod tension drum.....until I can locate the part for the 6th T-Rod.
It sounds like a snare drum - I'm very happy with how the Hemp snare strings are holding out so far.
